Frequently Asked Questions
How is Pathways different from LinkedIn?
Unlike LinkedIn, Pathways is purpose-built for one thing: finding warm introductions to your targets. While LinkedIn tries to be everything to everyone—social network, job board, content platform—we focus solely on connection mapping.
The most important difference? We digitize your entire organizational network, not just LinkedIn connections. Your college roommate who's not on LinkedIn but runs a foundation. Your board member's country club connections. Your colleague's church network. These real-world relationships often matter more than professional connections, but they're invisible to LinkedIn.
Plus, Pathways maps connections across your whole organization. When you need to reach someone, you see possible paths through any colleague's network, not just your own.
Does it work? Does it find connections?
Honest answer: it depends on how you set it up. We're still in beta, but the early pattern is clear—invest some time loading a thorough network dataset and you’ll get better returns.
The organizations seeing success do three things:
Load their full network, not just their top LinkedIn contacts. We need quantity to find quality connections.
Think beyond professional networks—include alumni groups, nonprofits, social clubs, even wedding guest lists. Your pastor might know your target's board chair.
Stay local when possible. Geography still matters. We find more paths to targets in your state than across the globe.
Bottom line: the more complete your organizational network, the more likely we find warm paths to your targets.
How much time do I need to dedicate to researching to make it work?
Pathways automates prospect research with AI trained to hunt for names and relationships. It targets pages heavy with connections—boards, staff directories, event attendees, alumni lists—casting a wide net in 2-3 minutes of guided searching.
For high-value targets, let the AI take a first pass, then spend 15 minutes having a human refine the results.
So Pathways found me connections to my target, what now?
Use it! People actually like helping and meeting new people—shocking, I know.
Follow the pathway step by step. Be brave, be confident. Send that email, text, DM, or suggest coffee. You still remember how to talk to humans, right? Pathways just tells you which humans to talk to. Let’s keep AI out of the next step, shall we?
You’re in beta - what’s next after that?
Beta tells us if this is worth building. If beta users find real value and want to keep using Pathways, we'll invest in the full product. If they don't, we'll shut it down and move on.
What’s Atticus?
Atticus Technology helps nonprofits find and cultivate new major donors. We built Pathways in the service of that mission for Atticus’ clients. It turned out pretty cool so we thought maybe other people would want to use it in the nonprofit context or otherwise. Want to know more? Check out Atticus’ website.
